Welcome!

This is where I keep notes from the corners of my work and life (at least I try to).

  • About Tech - things I’m building, breaking, fixing, and learning from - usually in that order

  • Writing & Reading: reaction, fragments, book notes, reviews, and longer trails of thought worth keeping

  • Photography: busy streets, golden sun, blue evenings, quiet moments, passing light, moving human and small proofs that I was paying attention

If you’re here for ideas, useful systems, good books, side projects, or a decent rabbit hole - start anywhere.

Who I Am

I'm Himel Nag Rana, a software engineer by profession, a serial tinkerer by habit, and a reluctant curator of too many interests.

My resume makes me sound organized. My social bios have been less charitable.

Somewhere between the official version and the uninterested unsocial version is the real one: curious, practical, slightly disordered, and usually working on something worth overthinking.

How I Got Here

Most of my working life has been spent building useful things out of messy requirements, shifting priorities, and systems with more history than anyone admits.

These days, that also means working with AI - not as magic, but as another tool, collaborator, and source of new questions (🀫 may be minions too).

Outside work, the pattern continues: I use it to think, write, research, prototype, and occasionally wander deeper into ideas than I meant to.

Operating System

On good days, I believe in clarity, patience, and not making things more complicated than they need to be. I also believe that Life doesn't compile without a warning or two.

I like tools that are useful, ideas that survive scrutiny, and systems that don’t collapse under the weight of optimism. AI is wonderful for speed, scale, and exploration.

For judgment, nuance, and knowing when to stop, I still prefer humans - preferably after coffee (and some reluctance).
